October 1, 1937 –
Cornelius John Hordyk went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 9, 2022. He passed peacefully, in the loving arms of his wife and children.
Neil, as he liked to be called, was born in Everett, WA, on October 1, 1937, to Cornelius and Reka Hordyk. He lived in Seattle as a young child. His family left Seattle when he was about 8 years old and moved to a farm in Silvana, WA. He would meet Joanie, who would eventually become the love of his life, at that young age. Joan remembers them playing together and fighting together as they grew up; then eventually falling in love. They were married on April 11, 1959 in Arlington, WA.
Neil being a very hard working man, built their first home in Marysville, WA, where they resided for 35 years with their two children, Lisa and Les. They then moved to a home on 5 acres in Lake Stevens, WA, where he lived out the rest of his days.
Neil believed in working hard to support his family and worked many jobs over the years. He retired in 2002.
Fishing, photography, riding motor cycles, square dancing and camping were many hobbies and activities that Neil enjoyed.
Neil leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Hordyk, his daughter Lisa Lacy, his son Les Hordyk, daughter-in-law Heidi Hordyk. He also leaves 6 granddaughters: Erin (Steve) Ladson, Katie (Darrin) Norton, Janel Lacy, Sonia (Dustin) Graves, Corley (Ed) Gervais and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Larson; as well as 8 great-granddaughters, Elyse, Elizabelle, Sage, Leah, Gwendalyn, Reese, Emilia, and Eve; plus 2 great-grandsons, Archer and Ethan; also, 1 sister, Sally Jo Dennis and several nieces and nephews.
It was evident that Neil loved God and his family very much. He will live on in Heaven as well as in the hearts of those of us who loved him.
