Community Alliance Brings More Scholarships to the Edmonds School District

More educational opportunities are becoming available to students in the Edmonds School District! A new partnership between the Foundation for Edmonds School District, the Rotary Club of Lynnwood, and the Lynnwood Rotary Community Foundation has been established to provide academic scholarships to graduating seniors in the district.

Close community ties have been integral to the Foundation’s ability to provide these opportunities to students. Multiple individuals and community organizations have allied with the Foundation in past years to provide thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. According to the Foundation website, over the past six years, in partnership with these donors, the Foundation has awarded nearly $890,000 in need- and merit-based scholarships. In 2022 alone, 55 graduating seniors received $138,000 in scholarships through the Foundation.

Long time Rotarian and community philanthropist Bernie Sigler will also be honored through a memorial scholarship in his name. According to a press release distributed by the Foundation, each memorial scholarship will recognize outstanding students in the Edmonds School District who demonstrate a commitment to others through community service. Award amounts will vary each year.

“The Rotary Club of Lynnwood are a shining example of serving our community,” said Deborah Brandi, Foundation for Edmonds School District Executive Director in the press release. “We are honored to award these scholarships to deserving students so they can continue their educational journey and help make our world a better place for everyone.”

If you are or if you know any students in the Edmond’s School District planning on pursuing educational programs at a university, community college or vocational-technical institution, applications for scholarships can be submitted here: Scholarship Application

One application will be considered for all eligible scholarships, of which there are currently over 30 different scholarships listed on the Foundation’s website.
