Changes to Seattle COVID-19 testing: Where to go

SEATTLE – The city of Seattle is ending its testing and vaccination efforts. Patients can still get a free trial, but some sites are no longer operational.

The city is now directing patients to two testing centers in SODO and north Seattle operated by UW Medicine.

“There will be no service gap. People can still take the free trials, it just means we’ll transfer them to the UW that has been our partner the entire time, ”Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan said last week.

They urge patients to only get tested if they have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

There are also several free self-service test kiosks operated by Curative. They are throughout the region and there are many dates available.

Snohomish County has two test sites in Everett and Lynnwood. Pierce County has a test station in Lakewood in addition to privately operated locations.

Vaccines are still widely available in pharmacies, grocery stores, and doctor’s offices.

Since mass vaccination centers are closed, groups such as FAST, Fathers and Sons Together reach the unvaccinated.

FAST got around 50 people to take their first pictures during an event in Rainier Beach over the weekend.

“We had teenagers with their friends who came to have their hair cut, slipped and vaccinated, we had adults who did the same so that little by little the information was spread and decisions were made,” said Cathie Wilmore of FAST.
