Cary Boyle Obituary (1953-2021) – Rexburg, ID

Cary Dee Boyle, 67, of Lehi, Utah (formerly Teton, Idaho), died of a bicycle accident on June 10, 2021 in Murray, Utah.

Cary was born in Salt Lake City on October 18, 1953 to Elva Louise Bartlett and Clair Dee Boyle. His parents divorced in 1963, and he spent most of his childhood in Murray with his mother and three brothers. From a young age he loved swimming and spent hours in the pool. He worked as a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons for the YMCA and the Granite School District. In 1972 he graduated from Cottonwood High School. Immediately after graduation, he had the opportunity to swim with the US Olympic swim team.

Cary attended Brigham Young University on a swimming scholarship, where his specialty was the butterfly. He met the love of his life, Robyn Rogers, at BYU. After dating for two years, they were married forever on August 20, 1976 in the Provo Utah Temple.

Cary graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1982. He worked for Utah Power & Light in Utah and Idaho and Pacific-Corp Power in Oregon for more than 35 years. Cary retired from the company in 2018 and after 18 wonderful years in Vancouver, Washington, moved to Utah to be closer to family.

Cary has been a loyal and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in several organizations within the Church. Loved the youth of the Church, he volunteered to teach the early seminary in Vancouver for several years. Most recently, Cary and Robyn served a two-year full-time Church mission in Halifax and Montreal, Canada. Through their work in mission headquarters, they met and loved all missionaries, and the missionaries loved them.

During their nearly 45-year marriage, they had five children and twelve grandchildren. His family was his life and he loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and each of his children and grandchildren. You could always find him assisting her at sporting events, concerts, dance evenings, and church activities. Every time he went home he would ask his grandchildren, “Who does grandpa love?” His grandchildren would quickly answer, “Me!”

Cary spent his whole life serving and would be ready to give anything to anyone. He was often working in someone’s garden, whether it was mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, or anything else that needed to be done. He was reliable, kind, and selfless, so it is fitting that his last act in this life was to donate his kidneys to someone in need.

For the last year of his life, he found much joy and satisfaction working side by side with his brother Scott as they worked on restoring Robyn’s 1964 1/2 Mustang. They were able to restore and operate it just a few weeks before his death.

Cary precedes his mother Elva and a half-brother Gary in death. He leaves behind his wife Robyn, five children, Kris (Cami) from Pleasant Grove; Nick (Kristin) from Bluffdale; Cameron (Tiffany) from Saratoga Springs; Ashley (Jonny) from Bluffdale; and Chase (Shyla) of Omaha, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; his father Clair and his stepmother Judy; three brothers; three half-brothers and four half-sisters.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at Lehi Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1174 pp. 1700 West, Lehi. A tour will be held Tuesday, June 15, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah. Immediately before the funeral there will also be a tour of the church in Lehi from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The funeral will be streamed live and can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch? v = 8m2YO – HGbU.

The family invites anyone who wishes to honor Cary to serve or make a donation to the Church’s humanitarian or missionary department.
