Carol Barker Obituary (1946 – 2022) – Indian Country, SC

Carol Jarrett Barker
August 16, 1946 – July 20, 2022
Indian Land, South Carolina – Carol was born on August 16th, 1946, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Timothy Walter Jarret and Oriel Strahley Jarret. She attended Enka High School in Asheville. Carol spent her career as an Administrative Assistant, where she was known as someone who got things done and was caring and thoughtful to all her friends and colleagues. She retired from Sun Trust Bank in 2017.
Carol was known for her electric personality and love of living life to the fullest. She had a passion for horses and dogs and loved all animals. She began riding horses as a child at her Grandmama’s in the mountains of North Carolina and continued to ride throughout her life, taking over ten trips to horse ranches, where she was known as an excellent roper. Friends and family looked forward to her Christmas card each year, where she’d dress up her animals for the holiday.
She was active in the Carolina Regional Mustang Club, serving as on the Board of Directors, Vice President and event chair for the Mustang 35th Birthday Celebration at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Driving her Roush Mustang was one of her pure joys, especially with her grandchildren in the back seat.
She is survived by her son Timothy Harlan Barker (Courtney) of Vancouver, Washington, and grandchildren Kyle and Ellie Barker. She is also survived by her sister Ann Jarrett Lowe and her loving Golden Retriever, Max.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund, which protects the wild Colonial Spanish Mustangs on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. www.corollawildhorses.com
