Beavers Return to Seattle for UW Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women’s track and field team travels to Seattle, Washington this Friday and Saturday for the UW Invitational being hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor Center. The competition on Friday starts at 3 p.m. with the women’s weight throw and the preliminary round of the women’s 60-meter hurdles. Saturday’s action on the track starts at 9:30am with the 3000m, while the field events kick off at 10am with the women’s long jump.

The Beavers last competed at the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle, Washington on January 15. Senior Emma Nelson matched her personal indoor best of 1.70 m (5′ 7″) and took first place in the high jump. Redshirt senior Keely McLaughlin also had a first place one with a throw of 13.35 m (43′ 9.75″) in shot put. In the triple jump, newcomer Jaaden Steele took third place with a jump of 11.19 m (36′ 8.5″).

On the course, newcomer Jillian Brown posted a personal best indoor time of 3:04.94 in the 1000 meters and finished second in the event. Brown also set a personal best in the 600 meters, finishing third with a time of 1:37.86. Freshman Jada Hurley reached the 60m final after finishing fourth in the qualifying round with a time of 7.76. In the final, Hurley placed sixth with a time of 7.80. Runner-up Adael Scatena placed fifth in the 200 meters (25.46, PR) and 400 meters (57.88), and sixth in the qualifier and 60-meter hurdles final with times of 9.18 and 9, respectively, 29
