Atlee Dean Nerheim
Atlee Dean Nerheim was born June 27th2007 in Vancouver, Washington. Atlee, a beautiful boy with a heart of gold, made an impression on every person he met.
Atlee was a pure country boy, rode his dirt bike and played with his dog Shadow. That was a perfect day for him. He loved spending time on the farm and learning how to interact with his many cousins, aunts and uncles. He always had fun when the harvest came; eager to ride in combine harvesters or trucks, always bringing tidbits for drivers. He loved being in the middle of work.
Atlee fought severe aplastic anemia for years and underwent numerous tests and therapies, including two transplants. He spent most of his last 5 years in the hospital. So many of those involved in his treatment became more than friends; they became his family. He really loved everyone and made sure everyone knew he loved her. On his last day at the children’s hospital, he was surrounded by many people he called family to celebrate and show their love for him.
Atlee’s last wish was to be able to go home. He was able to grant his wish and spend his last days with family, friends and his farm.
Atlee is survived by his parents Talia and Evaristo Tapia von Johnson; Siblings, Mercedes and husband Sean Climer from Utah, Brione, Channing, Abby and Alex, all at home; Grandmother Bobbie Seger of Johnson; Cousins, aunts and uncles; and many friends.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, commemorative contributions can be made to the Atlee Nerheim Memorial Fund for Funeral Home Garnand, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880. The commemorative contributions will be used to buy a tombstone for Atlee and also for a fund Atlee started for his best friend, who is also fighting an aggressive form of leukemia. She was a very important person to Atlee and he wanted to make sure he was helping her on her journey.
