Archbishop Murphy at Lake Stevens – Everett Post

It’s been a long and strange journey for the Lake Stevens Vikings. 671 days since an autumn game with fans in the stands under the traditional Friday Night Lights. Lake Stevens should have started his season with everyone else three weeks ago; but a couple of positive Covid-19 tests and their first two games were scratched. Lake started his season with a win but played at Seattle Memorial Stadium in the late afternoon last week. So here are the Vikings who harbor a very interesting enemy in Archbishop Murphy Wildcats.

It has been a minor stumbling block for Archbishop Murphy this season. Murphy opened the season with a 42:18 loss to the Seattle Prep Panthers at home in South Everett; then the Wildcats Road Warriors became 27-17 with wins two weeks ago far south in Fife; then last week they traveled far north and defeated Sehome 20-10 at the Civic Stadium in Bellingham. While Archbishop Murphy is still a high quality ball club, it is not the team that caused other teams in the Cascade Conference to pull out of scheduled games a few years ago. First year head coach Josh Jansen’s team seems to have found a good fit, competing in the Northwest Conference 2A division with the likes of Lakewood, Sedro Woolley, Squalicum and Lynden. But there are still plenty of talent on the Murphy roster, with Colton Johnson and Kai Lewis sharing quarterback duties for the first three weeks of the campaign. The Wildcats go into this non-league game with a 2: 1 overall balance.

Lake Stevens is 1-0 here in week three; They scraped their first two scheduled games according to Covid logs. 15-year-old head coach Tom Tri has recharged the roster with a number of highly talented players; and it is possible that this is the most talented Lake Stevens team of all time; and that includes years his starting quarterback is this week’s starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. Notable Viking figures include Drew Carter Sr., WR / DB; since his ninth grading at Cavalero Mid-High School, he has been attending university; Listed as the No. 33 senior recruit in the state according to 247Sports. Trayce Hanks, Sr., WR / DB; he switched from running back to the slot receiver. Jayden Limar, Jr., RB / LB; The four-star running back already has offerings from programs like Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC and Washington. He’s the No. 6 junior recruit overall in the state and the No. 7 junior running back in the nation, according to 247Sports. And on that long line of Vikings quarterbacks is Senior Grayson Murren.
