American Idol alum Britnee Kellogg at the Silver Dollar

JACKSON, Wyo. — Seeing the underbelly of the music industry up close and personal is a crossroads for many artists. If the skin doesn’t grow thicker, it will certainly break. Appearing on two seasons of American Idol, opening for superstars Keith Urban and Blake Shelton, and commuting from her home in Vancouver, Washington to Nashville to keep her foot in the industry, Britnee Kellogg has maintained the drive to match the talent. She’ll have a two-night stand with her band this Friday and Saturday at the Silver Dollar Showroom.

Kellogg’s love for country music began at age nine when she had the opportunity to see Johnny Cash with June Carter-Cash.

“I can literally remember every single moment of that night,” Kellogg told TheCountryNote.com last year. “The smell, the weather outside, the clothes they were wearing. They were just captivating. The way they looked at each other when they sang. The way their eyes lit up as they performed. I knew instantly it was my career path.”

While Kellogg’s brand of country is a bit removed from the raw and stripped-back traditional approach of the Cash family, that influence can be heard along with modern country and pop-country. The balancing act of raising three kids and being a touring musician came into focus with Kellogg’s 2021 single “Hey Mama,” which went viral on Tiktok as it was embraced by an active online community of mothers.
