Alberta Durkee from Vancouver, WA 1927-2022 | obituaries

Alberta Mae Durkee (née Callaway) passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 at the age of 94 in Vancouver, Washington. Alberta was born on April 18, 1927 to Rodger and Mary Callaway in Mazon, Illinois.

She is survived by four daughters, Marcia (Richard) Abbott of San Diego, CA; Gail Durkee of Channahon, IL; Gloria Durkee from Vancouver, WA; and Cynthia Durkee-Murphy (Patrick) of Olympia, WA. Alberta is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Meghann (Ty), Rachel (Dan), Lindsey (Sol), Sarah, Braden, Callaway, Riley and Eugene. In addition, numerous nieces and nephews survive.

Her husband Erwin (2011), her parents and sisters Marjorie Weeden and Doris Zuffi died.

While raising her family in Channahon, Alberta worked for the Grundy County Farm Bureau and the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. Job changes in later years sent the couple to Indiana, Oklahoma and Florida before settling in Washington after retirement. Alberta enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, shopping, and visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Alberta will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. A Christian funeral will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, conducted by Father Smith.

Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
