4 hospitalized in Spokane after a crash along I-90

According to the Washington State Patrol, four people were rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon after an accident on the eastward lane of I-90 near Maple Street.

According to the State Department of Transportation, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. and caused significant traffic safety along the highway.

State Police said the crash happened when a vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, was slowing down due to the traffic. Authorities said another vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter, crashed into the rear of the Suburban.

A 28-year-old woman who drove the Sprinter was taken to Deaconess Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. The 72-year-old driver and two passengers in the suburb were taken to the Sacred Heart Medical Center, according to police.

The crash is being investigated.

According to the Department of Transportation, all I-90 ramps in downtown Spokane were reopened at 5 p.m. on Monday.
