3 huskies were chosen to be the first unit of the league’s All-Pac-12 team
The Pac-12 coaches showed once again that the University of Washington football team was talented but lacking last season, choosing offensive tackle Jaxson Kirkland and cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Kyler Gordon as the first session of their entire conference Team.
On Tuesday, 6-foot-7, 310-pound Kirkland of Vancouver, Washington, was a replay selection as the husky left tackle and one of six league players to be honored again on the first team.
McDuffie, of Westminster, Calif., Rose from last year’s second team, and Gordon of Mukilteo, Washington, jumped from honorable accolades to the best defensive 11 this time around.
The coaches put UW punter Race Porter into their second team, while wide receiver Terrell Bynum, defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa, running back Sean McGrew, linebacker Jackson Sirmon and center Luke Wattenberg were given praise.
Wattenberg was a repeated honorable mention, while the five other huskies were inducted into the coaching team for the first time.
Kirkland, McDuffie, and Gordon each still qualify for college but are expected to participate in the NFL draft in April. Porter and Wattenberg are high school graduates. Bynum, Letuligasenoa and Sirmon are expected to return as UW players in 2022.
