2 injured, 16 displaced in Everett apartment fire – KIRO 7 News Seattle

EVERETT, Washington. – Two men were injured and 16 people were displaced in an apartment fire in Everett Sunday.

At around 3:40 a.m., firefighters were called to hangar 128 apartments on the 13000 block on 8th Avenue West.

Firefighters said the fire started in a unit on the second floor where one man inhaled smoke and was taken to the hospital while another man suffered minor injuries. Firefighters treated him at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Officials said the fire was contained in the unit.

However, three other units were damaged by smoke and water.

Support 7 and the American Red Cross were called in to help the displaced.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office estimates the total loss at around $ 75,000 and notes that the fire was likely caused by flammable materials placed too close to a heater.
