2 arrested, 1 wanted when the Washington MP was fatally shot

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Authorities have arrested two people in connection with the fatal shooting of a Clark County sheriff’s deputy and are looking for a third man who is believed to be the shooter.

The Colombian reported that 46-year-old Detective Jeremy Brown was shot dead in his vehicle late Friday while monitoring an apartment complex in Vancouver. Brown was a 15-year veteran in the sheriff’s office.

An arrest warrant has been issued against 26-year-old Guillermo Raya in connection with the shooting, the Southwest Washington Regional Serious Crime Team said. Raya is considered armed and dangerous, the team said.

Vancouver police said 28-year-old Abran Raya Leon and 35-year-old Misty Raya were arrested with unrelated arrest warrants after the shooting.

According to the police, three people were seen fleeing the area. Their vehicle crashed near Padden Parkway and Interstate 205, and the three suspects were running, investigators said. Raya-Leon and Misty Raya were arrested after a major manhunt.

According to an affidavit from the Colombian, witnesses told investigators that Guillermo Raya was paranoid, that the police followed him and confronted Brown when Brown was sitting in an unmarked SUV.
