🌱 Golden Handle Project + Animals In Need + Spokane Gives Month

Good morning, neighbors! It’s me again, Carla Varner, your host of the Spokane Daily.

First, today’s weather:

AM corridors; mostly cloudy. High: 43 Low: 26.

Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:

  1. The Golden Handle Project offers beer, but with benefits! If you want to give back to the community and enjoy a drink, check out the Golden Handle Project’s brewery, which is Washington’s first brewery to incorporate as a social purpose corporation, which allows it to pursue profits and social good. (domestic)
  2. The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) kennels are completely full of adoptable dogs. Shelters are crowded with the number of dogs in them right now. To help encourage adoptions, SCRAPS is waiving adoption fees for dogs and bunnies at the shelter. The only thing required when bringing a furry friend home is payment for a pet license. (KHQ Right Now)
  3. April is Spokane Gives month! There are so many opportunities to get involved, whether it’s helping at the blood drive or cleaning up the streets. Check out VolunteerSpokane.org for more information and signups for these events. (KXLY Spokane)

Today in Spokane:

  • Storytime shorts – Spokane County Library District (10:00 AM)
  • Free AARP Tax Aide – North Spokane Library (4:00 PM)
  • Money Smart for Older Adults – Spokane County Library District (6:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Looking for a sweet new pet? Consider adopting Double Dot & Wrong Way from the Humane Society! These two sweethearts are American Blue Heelers, but there are many dogs of all kinds of breeds. (Facebook)
  • Come to MAC Cafe to try its new Flower Trio Syrups! The museum cafe is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm (Facebook)

Loving the Spokane Daily? Here are all the ways you can get more involved:

  • Send a friend or neighbor this link so they can subscribe
  • Get your local business listed in front of readers

You’re all caught up for today! I’ll be back in your inbox tomorrow with another update.
